ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF COASTAL HAZARDS AND GLOBAL PANDEMIC

In order to understand the magnitude and duration of the individual and joint economic impacts of recent natural and technological disasters to recreational and commercial fishing, aquaculture, horticulture and marine sectors, multi-year baseline economic information about each sector in all five Gulf states are currently being compiled from various secondary sources. Econometric analysis of these long-term data will be conducted to determine the rate of economic recovery and measure the long-term economic damages to these affected economic sectors. https://coastal.msstate.edu/impact

2008 HURRICANE GUSTAV DAMAGES SURVEY

An assessment of all licensed resident Mississippi seafood processors, dealers, marinas and livebait dealers is currently ongoing in Coastal Mississippi to determine the level of economic losses sustained as a result of Hurricane Gustav. 

2005 HURRICANE KATRINA DAMAGES SURVEY

An assessment of all licensed resident Mississippi seafood processing plants and seafood dealers, livebait boats and dealers, marinas, commercial fishing, for-hire charter and recreational boating fleets was undertaken in Mississippi to determine the level of damage sustained as a result of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.  

2004-2009 SOCIOECONOMIC SURVEY OF NURSERIES AND GREENHOUSES

The overall goals of the regional socioeconomic survey of 215 randomly selected wholesalers were to develop a socioeconomic profile of horticulture workers in eigth Southern U.S. states and to evaluate the impact of automation on their employment, earnings, safety, skill-levels, and retention rates.

2003 CONSUMER SURVEY OF SELECTED GARDEN CHRYSANTHEMUM CULTIVARS

The objective of this survey was to determine the levels of liking and willingness to pay for selected garden chrysanthemum cultivars, and to measure relative influence of socioeconomic characteristics on consumer preferences and valuations.

2001-2007 RAW OYSTER CONSUMPTION SURVEYS

Several face-to-face and telephone surveys were conducted in selected Metropolitan Statistical Areas in the U.S. in order to determine consumer preferences for post-harvested processed raw oyster products.
